The Department of Economics was established in 1977 and offers M.A. prograame based on CBCS mode with intake of 70 and M. Phil. & Ph.D. programmes based on the UGC Regulation 2016,. Admissions to these programmes are based on Entrance Test merit. There are six well qualified faculty members in the department who besides regular teaching undertake research and extension activity. Departmental research orientation and focus is primarily upon local and regional issues. Department is learner centric. It has a computer lab with 20 PCs and accesses to campus vide Wi-Fi facility for faculty and students. Class rooms are LCD and Smart-board equipped. Also, it has a departmental library with dedicated resources for Environmental Economics and texts of economics in vernacular language. It also has a good collection of text books prepared by department faculty members for lending students for a period of entire semester. The department has a small but dedicated base of alumni spread across the region. Department has adopted best practices which enhance skill for employment among the students. Faculties are well-equipped with PC, Laptop, internet connectivity via optic-fiber network and air-conditioned chambers with all facilities for teaching, learning and research. Department strives to provide congenial atmosphere for bringing out best from students and faculty.
