Computer Centre has established 10 Km long fibber Network with a Gigabit backbone using CISCO CATALYS 4500 (24 port 1G/10G SFP port), and Netgear M5300 (100Mb/1G SFP Port) Layer 3 Switch Central location and 31 Distribution points having Netgear-20 Nos, Digisol-40 Nos, Netgear PoE 15 Nos Layer 2 Manageable switch in a STAR Topology Network. Seven segmented VLAN Smoothness Network traffic.
Biometric Time Attendance Machine
Computer Centre has established each Department, Hostel, Exam Section, Main building, UPSC Training Centre, Computer Centre deployed and centrally manage all Devices. Regular employees, Contractual employees and students.
Internet Services
Centre has received ample bandwidth 1G Internet Leased Line under the NMEICT project and Centre Provides Internet facility to its.
Internet facility provided to; all staff in campus like, Faculties, LAB, Researchers, ISC, Officers, Students and Guest.
We have connected student lab and given required no of connections for easy access of the internet.
24 X7 X 365 Days internet facility. A high power UPS at Centre and each distribution point equipped with 500VA/1KVA Offline UPS with 6U Rack with remote monitoring facility 24 hours. Management of Users and Bandwidth is efficiently done with the help of Cyberoam user management and Gateway level Anti-spam Anti-Virus software.
More than 1000 (registered) Staff use the internet facilities and more than 3000 (registered) Student use at their desktop or Laptop or Mobile. Each user is allocated 250 hrs. Renewable when user quota is utilized with a formal request.
University provide each Staff has a Mail facility on the University Mail server sauuni.ac.in with unlimited space and attachment.
Maintenance Services
Centre is providing maintenance (Desktop PC, Laptop, Printer, Projector, CCTV Camera, DVR/NVR, PTZ Camera, Wi-Fi Access Point, Server, and Network Switch’s) Procurement, Web Applications and Software assistance to the Computer users of the university. We are maintaining and supporting for computer maintenance and related peripheral equipment’s. Centre has proposed a project to UGC under IMF Scheme for strengthening the internal Computer Maintenance Facilities.
Centre has received Instrument Maintenance facility Grant from UGC for the maintenance purpose.
Procurement Services
Computer and allied equipment are procured centrally for the university by computer centre. Centre helps the various departments in deciding the specifications of various equipment and installation of the equipment.
Web Management
Computer Centre manages the university portal and uploads and updates the content of portal on day to day basis. Portal is designed such a way that end user having authorization can update the content related to his department. Each academic and administrative departments are given authorization to manage the content.
CCTV Security Systems
Computer centre Purchase, Install, Maintain and Monitoring CCTV Camera surveillance systems. More than 1000 Camera install in Campus.
Campus Event
Computer Centre Manage IT Setup and Live Casting for All events organised by University.
Wi-Fi Campus
Computer Centre has successfully implemented around 10 KMs of Fibber optic Network. Centre is providing Internet and Network facilities to the Faculties and Research Students. Centre had proposed to University Grants Commission to enhance this network with Wi-Fi facility during XIth plan proposal. In the same context UGC has sanctioned Rs 55 Lakh for Wi-Fi, Video Conferencing and E-Governance activities.
University at present is providing internet related services through wired network. Users are stuck to the desk for such kind of usage. University has issued the Wi-Fi enabled laptops to its faculty and administrative officers. To make these laptops a true unified communication device, the Campus Wi-Fi is most suitable option.
Recent technological developments have made ease access to Wi-Fi enabled mobile phones, PDAs, Netbooks and tablet PCs. Users are not stuck to the Laptop / Desktop for their communication needs any mobile device having Wi-Fi connectivity can be used for their communication and internet needs.
Students and Faculties can have access to Emails, Journals, SIP based Voice and Video communication anywhere in the campus without interruption.
Computer Peripherals Purchase:
Computer Centre provide Purchase service on Gujarat E Marketplace- GeM, to purchase all Computer related Items purchase Centrally by Computer Centre. Also Computer centre provide centrally support for Tender Upload on N-Procure portals.
Day to Day Activities
To assist the Examination departments computerization activities Computer centre has deputed its two person full time. They monitor and enhance examination system, which is core system of the university.
Accounting systems is developed runs smoothly computerized cheque writing is also implemented to avoid human errors. Linkage of several modular systems is being done to make system easier.
Besides all these, arrears and recovery, Payroll, Provident Fund, Cash Receipt and Payments, Examination processing which are already implemented and running under the supervision of the computer Centre.
For the research students and faculties Centre started surfing corner with 15 computers, Centre and is available morning to evening.
Centre has collaborated its mail server with google apps to facilitate the growing needs of the teaching and non-teaching staff of the university for E-mail and other web collaboration facilities.
Centre has also installed its own Web server which may serve the detailed information of the university.
Besides this researchers and students use the laboratory and all the resources available at the computer Centre.
Academic and Research support
We have conducted several employee training program to enrich the staff of the university with computer know how.
Assistance to the various students from postgraduate departments for utilizing the computing facilities is available at the computer centre.
GeM and N-procure Portal through IT Equipment’s purchase and tender procurer.
Application Software Support
Centre from its day one has started supporting the administration by developing, restructuring the computerized activities related to Examination, Accounts, Cash receipt, Enrolment/Enlistment etc. Centre provides support to the administration.
Consultancy and other area of the services
Consultancy services were provided to various colleges for setting up their infrastructure, course design and manpower selection.
University academic departments seek guidance for maintaining hardware and software related assistance from the centre.
