The Department of Computer Science was established in the year 1996 and the approval of AICTE for MCA Programme followed by UGC approval lead us to launch by 1997. The Department started M.Sc. (I.T & C.A.) programme from year 2000. The Programme is aimed at transformation of graduates to skillful IT professional who are expected to leadership and responsiblities in the corporate world
The department took initiatives not only for the growth of the department but took responsibilities to design curriculum, guidelines, programme structures for the course programs launched at affiliated colleges of this university. the department contributed in revising the curriculum in pace with emerging technologies to incorporate and monitor the programmes at department as well as at colleges. For the growth of students completing BCA,BSc.(IT) programmes, this department designed 2 years specialized PG programme in IT under the name M.Sc.(I.T.&C.A.) under self-finance scheme.
The department involves the students of MCA and M.Sc.(I.T.&C.A.) for knowledge exchange seminar sessions and collaborative real-life project, development to impart high quality teaching and motivate extensive research, the teaching is supported with self-learning from CBTs, project based learning and research based learning.
To facilitate project based learning a separate lab in the name of On-line visual development / learning room is developed wherein students can work for self learning from CBTs, contents from content Delivery Network, develop some innovative software based systems.
Department includes main academic center consisting of well furnished class rooms with multimedia projector(equipped with mordern teaching aids), seminars rooms, a separate lab, students computer labs, office for academic and administration, library, seminar-hall, and student refreshment room.
The department library is completely equipped with books, magazines and journals on computer science and information technology. The department has more than 140 computers, printers, scanner, web camera, licensed softwares, tutorials and presentation cd's, multimedia projectors in each class, laptop, internet facality.
