This is the seventh talk in the Prof. Avadhesh Kumar Singh Memorial Lecture Series delivered by Bittu Sahgal, the Founder of the Sanctuary Nature Foundation, Editor of Sanctuary Asia, India's first and largest circulating wildlife and ecology magazine (1981), and Founder-Editor of Sanctuary Cub (1984), India’s oldest and only wildlife magazine for children. He was closely involved with Project Tiger since its inception in the 1970s and has spent over four decades writing about and calling attention to conservation issues in books, magazines, and newspapers in both English and regional languages. He has also produced 30 wildlife documentaries, led national and international environmental campaigns across media platforms, including social media. Mr. Sahgal has served on a range of government and non-government organization boards and committees over the last 30 years. In the current talk, Mr. Sahgal talks about the issue of how the world has come to a halt due to a small microscopic virus, and why we need to re-evaluate our relationship with nature He talks about how human health and survival is linked with that of the biosphere we live in. He emphasizes how we need to take care of the 'blue dot' in the infinite space we call our home and urgently needs to pay attention to all species beginning with the most vulnerable ones to ensure the future of our own selves on the Earth. Mr. Sahgal passionately warns us that it is not the Earth that needs us, it is we that need the Earth; else, the Earth will go on in some form or the other without us.
