We are happy to share that Prof. Uma Shankar from the Department of Botany, North-Eastern Hill University (A Central University), Shillong (Meghalaya) visited Department of Biosciences, Saurashtra University, Rajkot on 30 January 2023. He delivered a talk to the students on the plant diversity and Himalayan ecology and interacted with Prof. Ramesh K. Kothari (Head of the Department), Prof. Satya P. Singh (UGC BSR Professor), Prof. Rahul Kundu, Dr. Jigna Tank, Dr. Mital Kaneria and other faculty members and research students. Prof. Uma Shankar over the last three decades is associated with NEHU, Shillong and working on various aspects of plant ecology of Himalayan region. For his contributions, he has been honored by INSA Young Scientist Medal, CSTUP Young Scientist Award, DST-BOYSCAST Fellowship, DBT-Overseas Associateship Award and INSA-CAS Bilateral Exchange Program Award. Besides, he is a Fellow of National Institute of Ecology and Society of Environmental Botanists.
