Prof. S. P. Singh, Professor & Head, Department of Biosciences, Saurashtra University, Rajkot has been awarded highly prestigious ‘UGC-BSR Faculty Fellowship’ for three years ( No.F 4-5(11)/2019 BSR, dated 04 June 2020). This award will be availed for three years after retirement in the Department of Biosciences, Saurashtra University.
This Award/Fellowship is sanctioned after the stringent screening and scrutiny of large number of applications received from the faculty members in Science subjects of the universities across India. The high powered committee of the UGC selects the candidates based on several criteria; the number of PhD students guided, the research projects carried out, books and books chapters published, research publications and the quality of the journals, H-Index and Impact factors of the published work of the faculty member and any other academic distinctions received. The major emphasis is given on the academic and research outputs during the last five years.
The total project under this scheme for three is 33 lacs, which includes contingency, research grant and honorarium to the faculty member. The faculty member can also enrol PhD students. This award is a credit to the Department and the University at a large.
